Slap Your Hand

Slap your hand down hard,
Flat upon the table,
In several extended bursts,
To get ‘most anyone’s attention, here.

Sit patient, polite, silent-like,
Everyone will not notice,
Walk straight past,
Eyes half-closed.

Wave, gesture, call out loud,
Cry, sing, show some perfect skin.
Capture attention,
Maybe momentarily.

See how long it takes to be forgot,
Remarkably quickly so.
Decide later, upon which dessert,
And you’re gone, back to oblivion.
